The Celestron NexStar Evolution Telescope is a high-end, easy-to-use telescope that is ideal for visual observing. The 9.25-inch optic version is more recommended over the 8-inch Edge version for its improved light-gathering power and resolution. The tripod for the 9.25 is also sturdier. The telescope keeps objects centred when aligned but the stars around them appear to rotate over time, so it is not ideal for long camera exposures. For astrophotography, an equatorial mount is best. The NexStar Evolution 8 comes with brass worm gears, clutch locks in both axes for manual movement and has an internal rechargeable battery. The telescope does not come with a barlow lens and higher quality ones are recommended for higher magnification. The telescope does not have an internal GPS but picks it up from the tablet being used. It comes with a hand controller.
