Answer: This lead is not retractable, and I would only use it at a park to keep the dog within a specific area, such as near a picnic table. It is also not a leash, due to the clips on both ends. We only use it to keep our dog within a non-fenced area. This is a very sturdy lead, with an inner wire covered with a flexible plastic coating. I use it on our large dog, but it may be a bit heavy for a very small or teacup dog. -
