    antwoord: I bought mine a while ago and had to machine in hinge caps to prevent the problem. It’s very fixable if you can do precision drill and tap for the 2-56 stainless screws you need to create the hinge cap.

    antwoord: Absolutely, it can be unscrewed. The threads on the mount itself are 1/4-20.
  • vraag: Can these be used on square railing or just round?

    antwoord: These can only be used on round railing.
  • vraag: What size screws are required for the AMP holes?

    antwoord: 2-56 Stainless with flat washers and loc-tit.
  • vraag: What size is the nylon base?

    antwoord: The nylon base is 2.5" in diameter.

    antwoord: Yes, this product has the strength to hold a search light. However, be careful when attaching and detaching from the rail as it is a two-piece clamp that can easily slide apart if not fastened properly.

This is a versatile and sturdy clamp that is perfect for attaching items to a 1" diameter SS post or a round railing. Customers have used it to attach VHF mikes, port and starboard spreader lights for night fishing and even a search light. However, there have been reports of the two-piece clamp sliding apart when the clamp is not fastened, so customers have had to modify it to add retaining screws along the hinge line. Some customers have also reported that the finishing could be better but overall, customers are satisfied with its strength and ease of use.
