Suzanne Collins Women-led Books Editorial Review
This editorial review highlights the book The Hunger Games, which is a volume 1 of series #1 in paperback. The reviewer initially thought the book might not be up to the par after watching the movie but was pleasantly surprised at how engrossing the book was from the first chapter. The book arrived promptly and in great condition, and it was intriguing and entertaining. The book tells a post-apocalyptic story about a girl named Katniss, who lives in District 12 located in what used to be Appalachia in a country called Panem, where the government dictates all laws to twelve existing districts. In the Hunger Games, tributes from twelve districts fight to the death, and the sole survivor gets a handsome reward. When the name of the first District 12 tribute named Prim is called, Katniss volunteers to take her place and is partnered with Peeta, the baker's youngest son. The rest of the narrative focuses on their training, competition, and the drama that ensues. The book is fast-paced, compelling, exciting, and still has a lot of heart.
