Creative Internal Sound Cards SB-AE-9 Editorial Review
The Creative Sound Blaster AE-7 sound card offers good sound quality with a few caveats. The surround sound and customization in the software are great, but the audio channels may reverse at random when gaming. The device is also power-hungry, requiring a separate 6-pin power cable. The Audio Control Module has plenty of I/O options, but the ACM cable is only 40 cm long. The mic input is balanced, but the audio output is unbalanced unless using a toslink cable to a separate DAC.
