The device is capable of detecting the authenticity of an ID by reading the coded information on the reverse side. If that is coded properly, then it may not detect a fake. The scanner can be used outside the US and with age flagging on/off in the system setup. The product comes with the full version of Scan-ID which allows you to search for all customers whose IDs were scanned in on a specific day or by customer name or fields. The scanner is easy to install and set up, and the built-in alert feature for age verification is excellent. The ease of installation and small footprint makes it perfect to integrate next to a POS system. However, the device does not autofill applications and the files do not automatically save with names. Also, some users reported that the scanner stopped working after a few months and the maximum number of scans per database is 10,000, which could be a concern for some users.
