Contemporary Editorial Review
**** "Befallen: A Second-Chance Romance" offers readers an emotionally charged narrative that delves deep into the struggles of recovery, trust, and rekindling love after trauma. From the outset, the story grips readers with raw emotion, compelling them to invest in Cammie's journey of healing and resilience following a life-altering trauma. The chemistry between high school sweethearts Cammie and Benny is palpable, but their relationship is complicated due to Cammie's fears and the shadows of her past. Cammie's character is particularly noteworthy; her inspirational journey illustrates the strength it takes to confront personal demons while embracing the possibility of love. Despite feeling unworthy of Benny's affections, her growth throughout the story resonates with readers who appreciate realistic portrayals of recovery from abuse and the courage to face one’s truth. Benny emerges as a quintessential book boyfriend—supportive, honest, and steadfast, embodying the traits that many romance readers cherish. His character serves as a comforting presence for Cammie, and together, they navigate the complexities of love and healing in the picturesque setting of Carmel Cove. Readers have expressed powerful sentiments regarding the book's ability to invoke emotions, with many noting that the author masterfully intertwines moments of heartbreak with hope. While the narrative touches on sensitive themes, it remains authentic and engaging, prompting readers to reflect on their own experiences and the nature of love after adversity. Overall, "Befallen" is not just a romance; it's a profound exploration of emotional resilience that many will find touching and relatable, making it a highly recommended read for fans of steamy, contemporary romances and second-chance love stories. **
